Sharon Kaye (George) Peck

It is with much sadness that we say a final goodbye to our
dear friend and Queen Mother, Sharon
Peck. None of us will ever forget Sharon's courage, and
dignity during her battle with breast cancer! Her positive
attitude & sense of humor have been an inspiration to all of us. Sharon
will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved her!
Following is a brief summary of the
many, outstanding achievements Sharon accomplished during her lifetime.
-
In 1991, She helped establish The
Learning Center, North Platte Public Schools' alternative high school.
In the 10 years she taught in the school, nearly 100 students received a
second chance to graduate from high school.

She taught French and English
classes in both middle and high school in Kearney, Hastings and North
Platte Nebraska.

She was recognized in 2001 with the
Women of Achievement Award, presented by the Community Improvement
Committee of the North Platte Area Chamber of Commerce, in the field of
education.

She was named to
Who's Who Among American Teachers.
-
She served as the American Cancer Society
Relay for Life co-chairwoman.
-
She was named a
Beta Sigma Phi International First Lady of the Year.
-
She served on the University of
Nebraska at Kearney Alumni Association board of directors from 2000 to
2003.

She taught us so much about living and dying...
About courage, patience, faith, hope, putting others first,
laughter and dignity, love, and FRIENDSHIP.
By allowing us to be a part of her life,
She touched our hearts forever.
